Spring in Full Bloom

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.”
Lamentations 3:22-23
Spring is in full bloom in my garden.
I went to check out the flowers and decide what needs watering, trimming, or weeding. It seems that I was only outside a couple days ago, but with the warmth of the sun, my plants grew immensely. Especially my alstroemeria.
Alstroemeria is one of my favorite flowers. It’s easy to grow, comes in many colors, and works great as a cut flower. I can pick some, put them in a vase, and they will last for a good two weeks…sometimes more.
That makes it a winner in my book.
I have a 4x8 foot raised bed that my alstroemeria grows in. There were so many blooms I decided to pick a big vaseful for my kitchen table. Even on a gray day, a bunch of flowers on my table can lift my spirit.
But after filling the large vase, I realized my flower bed was still overflowing.
I love to bring flowers to the Assisted Living home around the corner.
So I pulled out my 15 sturdy vases, then headed outside to pick more blooms.
I figured two or three stems per vase would be plenty. They looked so pretty with their rust colored petals that were sprinkled with white. I boxed them up to take them to the senior living home later.
Done with that, I went back out to check on my other plants, and I noticed the alstroemeria still held an abundance of flowers and buds. Anyone other than me would not notice ones missing. I’m not complaining.
It felt never ending, almost overwhelming…hence my verse.
It brought to mind the faithful love of the Lord that is never ending.
We may not always feel it, but it’s there.
If we are open to being filled with His great love, then we have to give it away.
We won’t be able to stop ourselves.
If I didn’t share those flowers with others, many would have died on the vine.
I’m a shy person by nature. But when I am filled with God’s love, I want to share it with others. When I feel reluctant to share through my words or actions, I need to stop and spend time praying. I’m glad it says, “His mercies are new every morning.” I need to be reminded of God’s great love for me, that never ends.
That’s a message we all need.
I pray we will all be filled to overflowing with God’s love, and that it will shower down on others.
I’m so thankful His love is never ending.
Praying for you and yours.
